More Highlights of SADS Foundation 6th Annual Conference!

6th INTERNATIONAL SADS FOUNDATION CONFERENCE

SALT LAKE CITY – The Sudden Arrhythmia Death Syndromes (SADS) Foundation hosted its most successful two-day, 6th Annual International Conference:  Preventing Sudden Death in the Young, last week. The goal of the event was to educate families and professionals in the medical field about how to prevent unexpected sudden death in the young.

The SADS Foundation is an organization dedicated to saving lives and supporting families of children and young adults who are predisposed to sudden death due to heart abnormalities. The Foundation provides information, support and hope to thousands of families with children living with the health threat and is a leader in education, research and advocacy for people with genetic heart arrhythmias that can cause sudden deaths.

The conference included lectures from experts such as Dr. Michael Ackerman on the latest treatment strategies for SADS conditions, Dr. Robert Campbell on the role of the medical examiner in SADS outreach and SCA registry, and many other world-renowned professionals of the medical field. Other highlights were honoring one of the founders of the SADS Foundation and conducting a Healing Wall ceremony to remember loved ones who have passed from a SADS condition.

“It was such a wonderful experience to not only learn about heart abnormalities and how to prevent unexpected death,” says VP of Development and Marketing Laura Wall, “but it also was a great opportunity for people to come together and develop a support system in the community.”
